Ideas Painting and Decorating

Painting is sometimes a form of illusion. You can make something look like something it is not.

If you have been thinking about renovating your home because you’re tired of the old way it looks like. You don’t have the thousands of dollars to actually modify and renovate your home. Then the next best thing is to consider at paint renovation instead.

Inspiration painting happens when you see something like for example, a carpet with barcode stripes on it hung on the wall like a painting. This can be very easily painted on with the series of horizontal stripes to mimic the pattern in the carpet.

Stand back and decide the size of the graphic on the wall you choose.

Layout the outside dimensions that you feel most comfortable with considering the positioning and placement of other furniture front of it.

If you decide to lay out your stripes horizontally (this will make the room look wider) you can mark out your stripes. I suggest you market your stripes out in uneven thickness to give it a more natural and random look.

If you decide you like to have your stripes going vertically this will give the room illusion of being taller. And the room to feel a little smaller and tighter.

Color choices for this wall graphic will change with the mood of the room. If you’re looking to have a soft and smooth and soothing mood in the room you might consider using a mixture of beige colors with greenish and brownish hues in them. That accent stripes with variations from lighter to darker stripes in different thicknesses.Any use and occasional complimentary color in the mix. For example if you’re going with earth tone colors you might consider using a bluish mixture with your base color. This can cause an interesting effect and yet not shout out the wrong way.

There is the right amount of lines or stripes that will look natural and not too busy. Don’t forget every time you add a stripe to your graphic it’s also in turn creating two more stripes. So one stripe actually creates three stripes.

To do this kind of small inspiration painting you only need a few quarts of latex paint and a few rolls of painters masking tape to tape off your stripes and a tape measure and a level.

5 House Renovation Payoffs

Posted March 3rd, 2010. Filed under Home Home Facelift

The house for many homeowners is probably the biggest investment they might own. As most sizeable investments need careful handling to bring in a profitable payoff, residential properties are no different. Homes need upgrades to increase their market value in case of selling your property. Consider these five housing projects when making renovations.

Kitchen: Investing money into your home’s kitchen is probably the safest place out of all the rooms in your home to put money in. For kitchen renovations, homeowners could expect on average 80 percent back of their initial cost. Gutting for an entire kitchen upgrade can cost $5000 to $8000. For smaller changes, consider upgrading counters, sinks, plumbing, lighting fixtures, and appliances.

Energy Upgrades: Energy upgrades in housing property are a definite attraction for homebuyers. Just for new energy efficient windows, for example, homeowners can expect a 77 percent pay back of the cost project. It take time to recoup on energy upgrades though, so make sure you will be living in the house until the cost gets covered.

Floors: Homeowners could give a late house model a newer feel just by upgrading dated floors. Replacing outdated, scuffled floors to make a small room bigger can fetch a payback as high as 75 percent. Floor renovation costs depends on the materials and type of floors desired. Professionally done, the average floor maintenance can cost about $1500.

Bathrooms: For a small bathroom maintenance work, homeowners can expect a bigger payoff than initial project cost, about 75 percent. Since most houses have bathrooms and plumbing infrastructures already built in, replacing a dated, small tub with a spacious shower can make a big difference. When selling your property, a bigger shower can count as a full bath, while a mid-sized shower to a half-bath makes it a whole bath.

Closets: Closet renovations do bring about a payoff, but determining how much of a payback is hard to decipher. It is known though that larger closet space is preferred and desired by many homebuyers, especially with Laguna beach luxury homes. It wouldn’t be a wasteful investment. A walk-in master closet can cost $500 to $2500, depending on the material and complexity of the design.

While you are out looking for bathroom faucet assemblies, you will be astonished by the large number of selections out there. They are available in all sorts of materials and finishes. How do you know which one is best? The answer really depends on your specific needs and preferences. They all have their own specific advantages and disadvantages. Below are some details regarding your options.

Chrome faucets are possibly the most common kind out there. Chrome faucet assemblies are made by electroplating chrome coating on top of brass. They are quite cost effective as they are quite inexpensive to purchase and also withstand scratches and corosion. The shiny finish of chrome also makes for a clean, contemporary look. On the other hand, chrome faucets need frequent cleaning because water marks and soap scum can easily build up on chrome. The chrome finish will also peel off after a couple of years.

Stainless steel faucet assemblies are one other common kind. They are also shiny, although not as shiny as chrome, and also make for a nice modern feel. However, they need less cleaning since it’s harder for soap scum and water marks to build up onto stainless steel. On the downside, when you actually do need to clean them, you must use non abrasive sponges and cleaner because stainless steel scratches easily. Finger prints could also show easily on stainless steel.

Nickel plated faucet assemblies are a fairly new option that is gaining a lot of acclaim in bathroom decor. They have the appearance of stainless steel, however They are able to withstand all the things that chrome and stainless steel can’t, erosion, scratches, water marks, and finger prints. The one issue they really have is, just like any kind of plating, the nickel plating could wear off after several years. They are typically more pricey than other kinds of faucets.

Brass faucets are an excellent choice if you want to give your bathroom a classic appeal. There is zero coating involved, and there is no need to worry about a ruined look caused by peeling. On the downside, they are vulnerable to scratches and rust so you will have to polish frequently, but they will last a very long time if you are able to do regular maintenance on them. On top of that, brass faucet assemblies are generally more expensive than other kinds of faucets.
